Independently published author KW Wooten is said to have sued Netflix and the creators of Outer Banks for “ stealing ” the plot of their teen drama, which began airing on April 15th.
In 2016, Wootton released Pennywise: The Hunt for Blackbeard’s Treasure! About four young men discover buried treasure from a legendary shipwreck along the outer banks of North Carolina.
The lawsuit alleged that the “archetypes of his heroes and show heroes are nearly identical” – according to TMZ.

K. (first name Kevin) noted that co-authors Jonas & Josh Pate said they were inspired by Otter Banks during their stay in Wilmington as he published paper copies of Pennywise.
Wooten asks the creators (including Shannon Burke) to add a title card in opening credits that spotlight him and his Goonies-style narration, which is also after damages.
Meanwhile, the cast and crew of the Outer Banks were working hard to film the second season of Mystery Adventure.
